Upgrading SQL 2008r2 (hosting SSRS for SCOM) to SQL 2012 failed on "No Custom Security Extensions" and "No Custom Authentication Extensions"

While attempting an in place upgrade of SQL 2008 R2 (hosting Operations Manager reporting DB) to SQL 2012, the process is struck when the rules fail. Looking at what’s there to google, the only option suggested is a reset of SSRS & OPS Manager Reporting Reinstall.

                              Ref http://thoughtsonopsmgr.blogspot.in/2013/01/om12-sp1-upgrading-sql-server-2008-sp1.html

Couldn't find much but looking at this page the only option suggested is a reset of SSRS & OPS Manager Reporting Reinstall

Is there any feasible approach to skip this reinstall effort.
